Pai Circus or Spicy Pai in Thailand? Which Hostel is better for Backpackers?

Pai Circus or Spicy Pai for backpackers?

I wanted to stay in Pai circus but after reading so many horrible views about Pai circus I thought I might seek some advice from the community. Any advice would be much helpful.

They all have their own charm. If you have more time to stay in them all to see which is your style/group of people. I’ve always rated Spicy Pai and Common Grounds as my favorites, Purple Monkeys meant to be nice too decent but have never stayed there.

I spent 10 days in Pai circus and I had the best time ever – don’t understand why anybody would rate that place bad??

I’ve just got back to the Pai Circus and staying for my third time and love the place too. seems this place is like marmite.

Marmite. If you regularly stay at the cheapest joint in town and find it ok you will be fine. If you need anything more than that stay elsewhere.

I’m staying at circus right now loving it and its fully booked with over 100 people here, I’d say go to Spicy Pai as I think they are fully booked here for the next couple of days anyway.

I just read the reviews of Pai circus on Facebook they say this guy from the staff will threaten to cut your arm with an Axe if you don’t shut the… up how can you even consider staying in a place like that.

I stayed in Canary which I think was next to Spicy and had a great time. Basic dorms and shower etc. But the charm of Pai means you just don’t care. It’s super chilled with live music most nights etc.

Sabai gardens for chilled communal vibes or Valhalla for hedonism in the mountains

Sidenote: the family cafe/restaurant opposite Pai Circus does offer one of the 2 best pad thai’s I’ve ever tasted.

Spicy Pai if you can sleep in hammocks. Paradise guesthouse for private rooms 🙂

Thanks for the tip. Is it possible to sleep in hammocks btw?

Lots of people seem to do fine but I am a light sleeper so when I read/saw that about Spicy and booked in Paradise down the road. No regrets and I could walk to Spicy Pai to meet people or have drinks 🙂 safe travels! Any way you choose, Pai is pretty cool.

Spicy Pai has open-air dorms w/ bunk beds. The hammocks are in the common areas and they let people sleep in them if they’re fully booked I believe.

I stayed in Pai Circus for a week and a half, there weren’t any bed bugs and I stayed in near enough all the dorms! It’s good value for money especially with the breakfast you get and everyone is so nice and great vibes.

Pai Circus 100%. You can get a private Hut for 250 baht per day as well. Also depends on your duration. Last time I was in Pai a month ago, I rented a nice private bungalow with 2 beds for 3000 a month. Then just go to the hostels/bars to mingle.

Definitely, Spicy Pai, had an amazing time there, the staff is friendly, the outdoor bathrooms very clean. but they don’t have a pool if you prefer that. Prefer Pai Circus if you need privacy and it’s more of a relaxed place.
