Can we Sleep on the Beach at Night in Barcelona to Save Money?

I and my boyfriend are going on our first trip together! We’re in Barcelona and don’t have enough money left to pay for a hostel (unless it’s really cheap, but I couldn’t find any really cheap ones) so we were thinking about sleeping on the beach? Does anyone know if that’s possible? Or do you have some tips for us?

The beach is quite far from the city… but there are a lot of punks on the street who are absolutely lovely people, by the way, I stayed with them in their squat for one night! They were very welcoming! You can try to ask them! Good luck! ❤????

The beach is definitely not far from the city. It’s just a little bit of a walk from the Ramblas… or not far at all from Born for example. Just wanted to clear that up so you won’t get dissuaded. But I don’t think you’d be allowed to sleep there sadly :/

I wouldn’t sleep on the beach near the city, I think they check and indeed the pickpockets. Couchsurfing worked fine for me.

Go to Mataro just outside of Barcelona, the beach is more narrow there and there are better-hidden places to sleep, always be careful ????

Don’t sleep on the beach! My friend was just chilling out there during the night whilst waiting and almost got robbed. It’s not safe!

I slept on the beach with two friends on a beach north of Barcelona. I don’t know the name of the town, but it was quite small. The only problem was when we woke up 5 in the morning by the tractor that was sweeping the beach, which was terrifying the first seconds before we realized what it was If you go to a secluded place, and keep your stuff close to you I think you’ll be fine 🙂

If you ain’t got no money no need to worry about pickpockets.???? Seriously I think beaches are sketchy in any city. Don’t sleep anywhere you are likely to be seen by anyone no matter where you are & avoid town city’s beaches parks & places of a large population at night.

Yes, it’s possible. I and my boyfriend did it although find a place with shelter, we woke to the mother of all thunder and lightning storms at about 2 am. ???? Good luck and safe travels!
