What’s The Best Way to Book Hostels at Koh Phi Phi?

Just wondering if anybody used ‘hostel world’ to book in advance or just turned up when travelling around, planning to visit Koh Phi Phi after Bangkok for a few days during the month of August?

I either just turn up, or when I’m not sure or arrive late evenings, I use booking.com. I did both in the past, depending on the place I’m going too. Koh Phi Phi is actually easy since it is very small and they wait at the pier. It’s also not unusual that travellers you meet along the way can recommend places to stay.

Phi Phi is easy to just turn up! On the pier, they have a stand and you give your budget and they can find you a room! I only ever book if I know that there are people I’ve met staying there, otherwise, I just turn up see what the place and the vibe is like.

Agoda almost always is cheaper and seems to give me a free discount voucher every time we use them 🙂 if you actually check for hotels/hostels on TripAdvisor, they’ll do a price comparison of all the big sites (agoda/hotels.com/booking) for you. Turning up sometimes pays off but we’ve heard it’s sometimes more expensive, and it’s just nice to have it sorted when you turn up to a place. Just book one place at a time though so you can stay extra days if you like.

Does Agoda have hostels or is it just hotels? Want to stay in hostels to party and chill meet new people.

Plenty of hostels although the hotels sometimes come up first cos they’re so cheap. Organise by review and set a low budget, the hostels should come up.

In advance when it’s a high season or festive period in popular places. Otherwise no. It appears to me that Hostelworld tends to have cheaper options.

When is the high season – June til like September?

No ???? June seems like high season because it’s European summer but no, it’s the beginning of the rainy season in South-East Asia, would actually say it’s low season.

High season I would say November onwards with new year being the peak until February. Beaches are most beautiful around April with Songkran Festival in Thailand.

Advice is if you’re spending mid of April in big cities like Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Phi Phi you had better be looking for accommodations now. And get ready to get wet ???? have fun!

That’s overstatement tho, like a month in advance is totally fine don’t worry.
