    Canned food, fine in checked bags. Friends from abroad have def brought in dairy products etc in checked bags by just not declaring it, all that happens is if they find it gets thrown out.

    Do you mean like cooked oats for your plane ride? You can absolutely bring uncooked oats for sure. Idk about cooked for in the cabin, probably fine under a certain amount.

    Its a matter of procedures, the best way to make sure is to send an email or contact a travel company or one of the offices which dear with the USA.

    But why carrying this stuff? they have good stores as well?

      You can take the buckwheats etc if they’re dry and in checked I’m pretty sure 🙂
      just don’t declare anything lol

    I went with cabin bag only and had some grains and cookies in, no one took them away 🙂

    I wouldn’t take food with you. Food is cheap in the supermarkets when you arrive!

    I would say groats is fine, as we were always bringing in kilos of cheese from the Netherlands to the USA (and declaring it, they didn’t do anything with it though)

    They need to be in your luggage… no dairy meat fruits or vegetables.

    No food, I was controlled when I came back from Costa Rica and they took everything away. Black beens in cans, fruits also.
    They do so because they fear invasive pests.
